Like Waiting for an Earthquake

My wife is pregnant, and scheduled to be induced starting tonight at 10:00pm. This isn’t our first, we have a daughter who just turned two, so we know what to expect (as much as you can on something as huge as this).

As I’ve been thinking about it, it’s a lot like waiting for an earthquake, except that we know exactly when the earthquake is going to hit. Not only do we know when, but we know must of what’s going to happen. We don’t know exactly, but pretty close. Which is kind of like knowing the magnitude of the earthquake.

I’m sure some day technology will exist that will be able to predict earthquakes, but for now, we’re happy the technology and science exists to tell us when this is going to happen.

Soon enough we’ll have our son with us breathing air like we do, and our lives will be changed forever. The miracle of birth is amazing, exciting and scary all at the same time. It’s amazing that God allows us to experience life in this way.
